Complete your continuing education to renew your DC real estate license today. All of our courses can be completed At Your Pace online in order to help you maintain your license. Once you finish your class you will have an official certificate of completion available and we will report your course completion to the commission for you.
DC 15 Hour Complete CE Package
This course is intended for real estate professionals in the District of Columbia. It has been approved by the D.C. Real Estate Commission as providing 15 hours of continuing education. The course explores topics such as ethics, fair housing, legislative updates, contracts, and financial issues.
DC 6 Hour Contracts & Ethics
This course is approved to provide real estate professionals in the District of Columbia with 3 hours of the mandatory ethics and 3 hours of elective continuing education. This course includes a discussion of the basics of real estate law, real estate contracts, the TILA-RESPA Rule, errors and omissions, and ethics.
DC 6 Hour Real Estate Financing
This 6-hour course is designed to provide DC real estate professionals with an overview of important topics and concepts related to the financing of real estate transactions. This course package will cover financing topics, such as relevant lending laws, sources of funds, loans, government loan programs, and documents used in the financing of real estate transactions.
DC Real Estate 3 Hr Core Fair Housing
This course is intended for licensed agents in the District of Columbia intending to renew their licenses. Subjects covered in this 3 hour course covers fair housing. Current cases regarding fair housing are also covered.
DC Real Estate 3 Hr CE Financial Issues
This course will cover 3 hours of continuing education in real estate, including real estate financing and financial recordkeeping.
DC Real Estate 3 Hr Core CE Legislative Updates
In this 3 hour legislative updates class for real estate professionals in the District of Columbia, we will cover the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau (CFPB) and how it affects the real estate industry. We will look at the various mortgage rules created by the CFPB paying special attention to the TILA-RESPA Rule. The Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Rule and its impact are also discussed, as are local laws affecting the Washington D.C. real estate industry.
DC 3 Hour Real Estate Core Ethics
This course is approved by the DC Real Estate Commission for 3 hours of Core Ethics!

District of Columbia Real Estate License Continuing Education and Renewal Date Requirements
District of Columbia real estate licenses expire biennially in odd-numbered years. To retain an active license, you must renew it before:
- February 28 of odd-numbered years as a broker or property manager
- August 31 of odd-numbered years as a sales agent
All licensees must complete 15 credit hours of continuing education (CE) coursework to renew their license with the District of Columbia Real Estate Commission. This requirement includes:
- 6 credits of Commission-approved elective subjects
- 3 credits of DC Legislative Updates
- 3 credits of DC Ethics
- 3 credits on Fair Housing topics

If you do not renew your license within 60 days of its expiration, it will become inactive.
To reinstate an expired license, you must complete the full, 15-hour CE requirement for each two-year renewal period after the initial lapse. Licenses inactive for five or more years cannot be reinstated.
Information on Final Exams:
The District of Columbia Real Estate Commission accepts CE course credit hours with a final exam score of 75% or higher. If you fail an exam on the first attempt, you can retake it as many times as necessary until you achieve a passing score.
Rules for Duplicate Courses:
You can take a CE course for credit only once during each two-year renewal cycle.
Continuing Education Exemptions:
Newly licensed real estate brokers, sales associates, and property managers must renew their license at the end of the biennial period but are exempt from CE requirements for this first term.
If a new licensee completes CE coursework, credits earned will not carry forward into the next renewal period.
