Late CE: 1 Hour KY SAFE 2021 State Law Course (12929)
- 1 Hour Course
This course is designed to address your 2021 Late CE needs.
This 1 hour course on Kentucky laws and regulations fulfills the state elective requirement for annual renewal. Licensed mortgage loan originators in our state must take 8 hours of continuing education each year, with 3 hours being dedicated to Federal law, 2 hours of ethics, 2 hours of non-traditional mortgage lending, and this 1 hour of state-specific content.
The course begins with an overview of the MLO regulation in Kentucky and some important definitions for the various mortgage professions of Kentucky. Then we dive into the Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS) and learn about MLO licensing and renewal. Next, the course goes into the commissioner of the Department of Finance's role and power in the mortgage loan industry.
The bulk of the class focuses on the regulations licensed mortgage loan originators must abide by. Such topics discussed include record-keeping and surety bond requirements, prohibited acts and practices, and the commissioner's response to law violations. In the last portion of the course, we will examine the Kentucky Residential Mortgage Fraud Act and see what constitutes fraud and the repercussions of committing mortgage fraud.
To promote comprehension, students will complete a 5-question quiz and short activity after each module. A 15-question final exam will wrap up the course.
