First-Time Renewal Requirements for Texas Sales Agents

Real estate sales agents in Texas must renew their license every two years.

Licensees who are renewing for the first time must satisfy the Sales Apprentice Education (SAE) requirements by completing:

90 hours of SAE course material
Eight hours of TREC legal updates (split into two four-hour courses)

If you have been made a supervisor by your broker, you must also complete the 6-hour Broker Responsibility course. View our FAQ page for more information.

Phyllis Goodrich has been a certified real estate teacher since 1999. She holds a CREI Designation from the Texas Real Estate Teachers Association, a CDEI designation from the International Distance Education Certification Center and the At Home with Diversity Instructor Certification through the National Association of Realtors. Phyllis also reviews Qualifying and CE classes for publishers and wrote the Texas pre-license classes for salesman and brokers.
