Every two years, real estate licensees in Kentucky must complete 12 hours of continuing education in order to renew their license, but at least 6 hours of that must be taken in the first year of the cycle. This is a recent change.
In the first part on state law, students will review agency duties, relationships, and agreements in Kentucky. Then we’ll focus more on real estate contracts. Fair housing legislation and avoiding discrimination of protected classes is next. Coming up last, but not least, is planning and zoning considerations.
Part two starts by analyzing professional ethics and ethical dilemmas for real estate professionals. A general discussion of what makes a person a ‘professional’ is segued from there. That topic series includes actionable security and confidentiality measures to take. Different types of inspections real estate professionals and their clients may face are covered next. We’ll explore on-site inspections by building officials, residential inspections, home inspections, and other situation-specific inspections (FEMA, property management, Section 8). Finally, best practices for online advertising are provided. The NAR model, social media recommendations, the CAN-SPAM Act, and native advertising precautions will be featured.
Videos, scenarios, and imagery are utilized throughout the course for visual and auditory learning styles. After each lesson, students will be asked a single question about the material. To promote comprehension, students will complete a 12-question quiz after each part. A 30-question final exam will wrap up the course.
