CE Requirements to Renew a NY Mortgage Loan Originator License


In the state of New York MLO license holders must obtain 11 total hours that consist of:

  • 3 Hours of Federal Law Updates
  • 2 Hours of Ethics, Fraud, Consumer Protection, & Fair Lending
  • 2 Hours of Non-Traditional Mortgage Products
  • 1 Hour of Elective*
  • 3 Hours of NY Law

The deadline to complete CE is December 31st.

*NY-DFI will not accept any hours of other state-specific education to count towards the 1 hour of elective. MLOs are advised to complete either an 11 hour NY Comprehensive package or an 8 hour Comprehensive course and a 3 hour NY elective course.

11 Hour SAFE Core and New York Law 2019 MLO Package

11 Hour Course $ 70.00

This 11 hour package for mortgage loan originators in New York is designed to provide all of the mandatory education needed to renew your MLO license. This course will address a variety of topics including:

  • federal lending laws such as the SAFE Act
  • ECOA and the TILA-RESPA Rule
  • ethics, fraud, and non-traditional mortgage loan products
  • what reverse mortgages are
  • reverse mortgage scams
  • licensing and renewals
  • prohibited acts
  • consumer credit information
  • the Home Equity Theft Protection Act (HETPA)

Late CE: National Requirements (7904)

8 Hour Course $ 45.00

This is the 2018 Late CE course. This is only for licensees who failed to complete the CE required for their 2018 renewal during the 2018 calendar year.

Licensees who hold a Mortgage Loan Originator license are required to obtain continuing education in order to renew that license. This course covers the National Requirements which consist of:

  • 3 Hours of Federal Law Updates
  • 2 Hours of Ethics, Fraud, Consumer Protection, & Fair Lending
  • 2 Hours of Non-Traditional Mortgage Products

 

This course does not cover the state specific content. You will need to purchase a second class in order to fulfill that requirement.

 


8 Hour SAFE Core and Elective 2019 MLO CE New York

8 Hour Course $ 45.00

This 8 hour course of instruction for mortgage loan originators in New York is designed to provide the mandatory Core education on mortgage lending, reverse mortgages, and the federal regulations governing MLOs. Additionally, it provides 1 hour of elective content. This course will address a variety of topics including:

  • Federal lending laws such as the SAFE Act

Late CE 4 Hour NY SAFE 2018 State Law Course (10121)

1 Hour Course $ 40.00

This is the 2018 Late CE course. This is only for licensees who failed to complete the CE required for their 2018 renewal during the 2018 calendar year.

This updated, 4 hour continuing education course is for licensed Mortgage Loan Originators in New York. It satisfies the state-specific requirements in an easy-to-understand and informative way, so it's the perfect choice for finishing off your continuing education. In the 1 hour elective portion, we'll discuss Home Equity Lines of Credit, and in the next 3 hours of content directly following the elective, we'll dive into the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE), the licensing requirements and prohibitions for the New York MLO, and finish the course with an in-depth look at surety bonds and cases of fraud.

 


3 Hour NY SAFE 2019 State Law Course

Taking this course will satisfy the 3-hour state-specific elective requirement for licensed New York mortgage loan originators. This class counts toward the 11 total hours of required annual continuing education. The course will review:
