This 15-hour includes a three-hour core CE class on Risk Management: Initial Contact to Accepted Offer followed by four three-hour modules of educational content intended as an overview of important topics and concepts for real estate licensees. 

The three-hour core course covers how Alabama license law is applied in each step of a typical real estate transaction beginning with the initial meeting of consumers who are interested in buying or selling real estate and ending with the accepted offer. Throughout the course, the focus is on how statutes and rules are intended to protect the interests of consumers in Alabama. The course follows a syllabus created by the Alabama Real Estate Commission. It is organized as follows:

  • Hour 1: Pretest and Introduction (10 minutes) & Lesson I - Meeting with the Consumer (40 Minutes)
  • Hour 2: Lesson II - Presenting Property to the Consumer (15 Minutes) & Lesson III - Filling Out the Offer to Purchase Form (35 Minutes)
  • Hour 3: Lesson IV - Presenting the Offer to the Seller (15 Minutes); Lesson V - Accepted Offer (30 Minutes); & Lesson VI – Review of Material and Check List of Documentation That Must be Retained (5 Minutes)

The electives included in this package cover topics such as the provisions of the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics, mathematics and real estate calculations, contracts, professional real estate activities, escrow, the closing process, comparative market analyses, and the safety concerns of real estate professionals when showing a property or conducting an open, emphasizing safety techniques and practices that will help to protect licensees, clients, and the property itself. The package concludes with a survey of professional insurance and liability coverages for licensees.

These electives are intended to protect the interests of consumers in Alabama by reinforcing ethical practices, honing skills on contracts, the mathematics vital to real estate, and other professional activities such as escrow and CMAs. Finally, it serves the interests of consumers by introducing safe practices at showings and open houses that protect clients, customers, and the property itself.
