This 20 hour continuing education package for real estate practitioners in Alaska will satisfy the requirement for license renewal in 2020. The Alaska Real Estate Commission and Association of Real Estate Law Officials dictate licensees be updated and refreshed on important issues in the many categories of the real estate industry. Our course will begin with an exploration of ethical dilemmas, followed by a 20 question exam. Next is an overview of preliminary reports and the encumbrances (or clouds) that can appear on a title. Another 20 question exam will commence to test comprehension.
Part three of the 8 hour designated core requirement will focus on real estate contract law, examining common agreements and disclosures found in real estate transactions. After the incremental exam, part four will deep dive into the types of inspections which property owners, and thus licensees, should become familiar with, including commercial, industrial, mechanical, and residential types. A breakdown of the Residential Real Property Transfer Disclosure Statement and 20 question exam will conclude the core requirement. There are two activities to complete in the core education segment that expect the student to apply information just learned.
For the elective credits, licensees will review Alaska's licensing laws, then pick apart the lengthy Landlord-Tenant Act. Because these next two areas of practice are of great concern to the state, consumer protection and ethics are examined from a different angle. Finally, strategy, risk, reward, law, and theory in real estate investment are considered.
After each lesson, students will be asked a single question about the material. Videos and images are utilized throughout the course to aid visual and auditory learning styles.
