  • 3 hours of fair housing

  • At least 18 hours of consumer protection courses

The remaining hours may relate to either consumer service or consumer protection courses.

Brokers or Officers Renewing for the First Time

Real estate brokers or officers renewing an original license for the first time must complete 45 clock hours of DRE-approved continuing education consisting of:

  • 3 hours of ethics
  • 3 hours of agency
  • 3 hours of trust fund handling
  • 3 hours of risk management
  • 3 hours of fair housing
  • 3 hours of management & supervision
  • 2 hours of implicit bias training
  • At least 18 hours of consumer protection courses

The remaining hours may relate to either consumer service or consumer protection courses.

All Licensees, Second and Subsequent Renewals

For subsequent renewals, all licensees must complete 45 hours of DRE-approved continuing education consisting of:

  • A 9-hour course covering ethics, agency, trust fund handling, risk management, management and supervision, fair housing and implicit bias training OR licensees can choose to take individual courses in all of those mandatory subjects.
  • A minimum of 18 hours of CE courses in the category of consumer protection.

All remaining hours may relate to either consumer service or consumer protection courses.
