1 Hour Florida SAFE State Law Course

This 1 hour course is a stand-alone course intended for Florida licensed Mortgage Loan Originators who have already the 7 hours of continuing education required through the State of Florida.

Module 1 begins with a brief introduction and then moves into a description of the oversight rules and regulations for mortgage loan originations in the State of Florida, including Florida Statutes, Title 33, Chapter 494 (Loan Originators and Mortgage Brokers); and Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.) 69V-40 (Mortgage Brokerage).

The course then provides a description of the functions of the Office of Financial Regulation and its structure. The student will then move into the regulations and rules governing the conduct of MLOs under Chapter 494 of the Florida Statutes, including those actions considered to be prohibited conduct. Module 1 will be followup by a short activity with the purpose of checking the student's knowledge in a more real world type setting.

Module 2 of the class begins with a short section on the Florida Mortgage Guaranty Trust Fund, and how it affects MLOS and consumers in our state. Then the course moves into recent events and decisions that are affecting our industry. Finally, we examine changes in laws and recent court cases that are affecting our industry as well. We will finish Module 2 with an activity designed to dive a little deeper into two recent court cases involving the mortgage industry.

The class content will be followed with a short final quiz of 15 questions to determine the student's grasp of the information.
