This class focuses on the laws and rules essential to the practice of real estate in Maine. The material is part of a mandatory continuing education curriculum for all brokers and associate brokers, and is presented both in discussion format and through interactive hypothetical scenarios intended to illustrate how the laws and rules are applied in the real world. Laws covered include those governing brokerage agreements, the scope of agency, Seller, Buyer, and Appointed Agents, and Affiliated Licensee groups or “Teams”. The class also looks at the complex issue of Disclosed Dual Agency, providing some dual agency “A-ha’s”. Finally, there is a helpful review of Maine Administrative Rules from the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation Chapter 400 (Agency/Designated Broker Responsibilities) and Chapter 410 (Minimum Standards of Practice).
