Michigan Fair Housing

This course contains one hour of educational content on fair housing. The intent is to provide Michigan real estate professionals with training they can put toward the total continuing education hours required for license renewal. This course covers the following topics:

  • A segment of the course discusses fair housing as a concept along with important terminology related to fair housing.
• History of housing practices and federal fair housing laws
  • A segment of the course looks at the history of the real estate industry, specifically discriminatory housing practices. This segment also talks about important fair housing laws passed at the federal level.
• Impact of fair housing and federal fair housing laws
  • A segment of the course covers how fair housing and the federal laws that support fair housing benefit real estate professionals and the real estate industry both locally and nationally.
• The Fair Housing Act
  • A segment of the course addresses the Fair Housing Act. This segment examines the Act as it was when it was passed and how its reach and protections have expanded. This segment also looks at how the Act is enforced.
