Real estate brokers in Ohio must dedicate 12 of their 30 CE hours on core content determined by the Ohio Real Estate Commission. This package satisfies the full 12 hours of core required. There are four courses in this package, each broken down into 3 hour increments.
The first, on Principal Broker Responsibilities, focuses on what it means to be the principal broker of a firm and how to run a brokerage. Records management, client trust accounts, policies and procedures, and supervising employees are key topics discussed in the first core course.
Next is a 3 hour course on Civil Rights. In this course, we will cover the history and impact of Fair Housing laws on the real estate professional, as well as specifics of the Fair Housing Act and related Presidential Executive Orders. The criminal history/record's use in fair housing, and the Ohio Civil Rights Commission's role in protecting the public from discriminatory practices finish off this course.
Thirdly, our course on the Ohio real estate industry's Canon of Ethics walks students through common ethical concepts and dilemmas. How best to respond to ethically trying situations in accordance with national and state law are examined.
Last, but not least, is the real estate core course on important legal updates from the last few years. This includes an overview of key changes to the Ohio Revised Code for real estate from various House and Senate bills. Relevant Federal Real Estate Regulations and excerpts from the Digital Millennium Copyright Act are also applied to general practice as a real estate professional.
After each lesson, students will be asked a single question about the material. Videos and images are utilized throughout the course to aid visual and auditory learning styles.
