Late CE: 1 Hour RI SAFE 2020 State Law Course (12094)

  • 1 Hour Course
  • $30.00

This course is designed to address your 2020 Late CE needs.

This 1 hour course on Rhode Island laws and regulations fulfills the state elective requirement for annual renewal. Licensed mortgage loan originators in the state must take 8 hours of continuing education each year, with 3 hours being dedicated to Federal law, 2 hours of ethics, 2 hours of non-traditional mortgage lending, and this 1 hour of state-specific content.

We'll begin with a review of the national SAFE Act, as well as an overview of the mortgage licensing laws and regulations that govern MLOs in Rhode Island. Then, we'll dive into updated MLO regulations regarding financial responsibility, criminal background, and bonds. The first module finishes with coverage of important topics including license renewal and MLO prohibited practices.

In the second module is an overview of the Rhode Island Home Loan Protection Act, which includes reporting responsibilities, prohibited practices for loans, and potential civil actions. Following is a look at community obligations and banking offenses relevant to the mortgage industry. Finally, the course closes with a thorough review of the anti-discrimination laws outlined in the Rhode Island Fair Housing Practices Act.

To promote comprehension, students will complete a 5-question quiz and short activity after each module. A 15-question final exam will wrap up the course.
