The educational content contained in this course are intended to inform brokers-in-charge on management of professional and legal risk. This course will address the following two topic areas:
- The duties and responsibilities of a broker-in-charge
- The first segment of the course will look at what it means to be a BIC in South Carolina including core responsibilities, licensing requirements, trust fund handling, record retention, and brokerage relationship with members of the public.
- Managing legal risk
- The second segment of the course discusses important areas of the legal framework surrounding real estate professionals in South Carolina. This segment will look at fair housing and fair housing law, wholesaling, and unfair service agreements. This segment will also examine the complaint, investigation and disciplinary procedures that apply to South Carolina real estate professionals.
At the end of the first segment, students will read through a brief scenario and then answer five questions based on that scenario. At the end of the second segment, students will complete a five question quiz that is designed to promote comprehension and retention of the material presented in the second segment.
