Fair Housing Laws have been one of the great successes within the real estate industry, extending the benefits of homeownership more evenly throughout Maine and the USA, as well as creating a more robust market than ever, joined by some who had formerly been excluded. This course addresses every aspect of Fair Housing Laws, with a look at the concepts of protected classes, discrimination, direct discrimination, and disparate impact as well as reviewing the history, statutory language, and application of these laws with a special focus on how they impact real estate professionals. The class includes a wide-ranging review of how Fair Housing laws interact with other civil rights and consumer protection laws as well as the impact of the fair housing Executive Orders issued by Presidents from Kennedy to George W. Bush.
