Your Minnesota real estate license expires every two years. Renewal applications are due by 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time on June 30 each renewal year.
To renew a real estate license, all agents must complete 15 hours of CE coursework annually for a total of 30 credit hours per biennial term. This CE requirement is due by June 15 of your renewal year and includes:
- 1 credit hour in fair housing
- 1 credit hour in agency law
- Required module training courses assigned by the Minnesota Department of Commerce which are subject to change each year
- Elective coursework credits, as necessary, to meet the 30-hour requirement
AYPORealEstate offers CE course packages that fulfill Minnesota’s real estate license renewal requirements.
New licensees have until their first renewal term to complete the continuing education (CE) requirement, regardless of when their license was initially issued, and are only required to complete the module due at their renewal.
Commercial-only real estate sales associates and brokers may be exempt from modules assigned by the Minnesota Department of Commerce but must apply for exemption approval.
Duplication of courses
Licensees cannot repeat a course for credit toward their CE requirement during the same renewal term. Additional or duplicate credits earned cannot carry over into the next biennial period.
Maximum Number of CE Hours Taken in a 24-Hour Period
No more than 8 hours of coursework completed within a 24-hour period will be accepted toward your Minnesota real estate CE requirement.
Information on Final Exams
CE course final exams are closed-book and require a third-party proctor. Upon exam completion, the proctor must submit a signed affidavit.
To receive credit toward your CE requirement, you must earn a score of 75% or higher on your course exam.
